how to do scale factors

I have trouble with how to do scale factors . I tried hard to locate someone who can assist me with this. I also looked out for a teacher to teach me and crack my problems on solving a triangle, difference of squares and evaluating formulas. Though I found a few who could may be crack my problem, I realized that I cannot pay for them. I do not have much time too. My quiz is coming up before long. I am distressed. Can anybody help me out with this situation? I would really be glad about any assistance or any advice.
