I am going to college now. As math has always been my problem area , I purchased the course books in advance. I am plan studying a couple of topics before the classes start. Any kind of pointers would be much appreciated that could help me to start studying formula for vertex myself.

You seem to be more freaked out than confused. First you need to control your self. Do not panic. Sit back, relax and look at the books with a clear mind. They will seem tough if you think they are tough. formula for vertex can be easily understood and you can solve almost every equation with the help of Algebrator. So relax.

I might be able to help if you can send more details about your problems. Alternatively you may also check out Algebrator which is a great piece of software that helps to solve math questions . It explains everything thoroughly and makes the topics seem very simple . I must say that it is indeed worth every single penny.
