b^2 + 3b - 10 - 30 = 0
b^2 + 3b - 40 = 0
b^2 - 5b + 8b - 40 = 0
b(b - 5) + 8(b - 5) = 0
(b - 5)(b + 8) = 0
The "Zero Product Property" says that:
If a × b = 0 then a = 0 or b = 0 (or both a=0 and b=0).
In our case b - 5 = 0 or b + 8 = 0 that is:
b = 5 or b = -8
The solutions are 5 and -8.
