Answer provided by our tutors

Let

x = the length of the second leg

x - 8 = the length of the first leg

2(x - 8) = the length of the third leg

x + (x - 8) + 2(x - 8) = 200

........

x = 56 m

x - 8 = 56 - 8 = 48 m

2(x - 8) = 2*(56 - 8) = 2*48 = 96 m

The length of the longest leg of the race is 96 meters.
