Problema Solution
A chemist needs 24 liters of a 10% alcohol solution but has only a 30% alcohol solution. How many liters each of the 30% solution and water should he mix to make the desired 24 liters of 10% solution
Answer provided by our tutors
Let
x = amt of water to mix
24-x = amt of 30% solution to mix
..
30% of (24-x) = 10% of 24
0.30(24 - x) = 0.10*24

........
x = 16 l
24 - 16 = 8 l
amt of water to mix = 16 liters.
amt of 30% solution to mix = 8 liters.
