A company produces 1 juice that contains 20% real fruit juice. They produce another that is 70% real fruit juice.

How many pints of each juice would be needed to produce 40 pints of juice that contains 55% real fruit juice?

Let 'x' represent the amount of 20% juice, then '40-x' represents the amount of 70% juice. 

Each percentage should be reported as decimals, 20% is 0.20, 70% is 0.70 and 55% is 0.55:

0.55*40=0.20x+0.70(40-x)

40-12=28

So 12 pints of 20% real fruit juice should be combined with 28 pints of 70% real fruit juice.
