Problema Solution
A gift box is shaped like a rectangular prism. The length of the box is 16cm, the width is 6cm, and the height is 6cm. Is a sheet of wrapping paper measuring 20cm by 20cm enough paper to wrap the box? Explain.
Answer provided by our tutors
The area of the paper is: 20*20 = 400 cm^2
The area of the rectangular prism is: 2*(16*6 + 6*6 + 16*6) = 456 cm^2
Since 400 < 456 the paper is not enough to wrap the box.
