Problema Solution

A moon is about

250,000

miles from the planet it orbits.

If a rocket traveled at

50,000

miles per hour, how long would it take for it to reach the moon from the planet?

Answer provided by our tutors

Let

d = 250,000 mi the distance

v = 50,000 mph the average rate

t = the time of the travel

Since speed = distance/time we have:

v = d/t

t = d/v

t = 250,000/50,000

t = 25/5

t = 5 hr

The rocket would take about 5 hours to reach the moon.
