Problema Solution

A trapezoid has a perimeter of 117 cm. The two shortest sides have the same length. The third

side is 12 cm longer than one short side. The final side is 9 cm less than three times one

short side. How long is each side of the trapezoid?

Answer provided by our tutors

Let 'x' represent the length of each of the shortest sides with same length.

Third side is: 12 + x

Final side: 3x - 9

The perimeter is 117 cm means:

2x + 12 + x + 3x - 9 = 117

........

x = 19 cm

12 + 9 = 21 cm

3*19 - 9 = 48 cm

The sides of the trapezoid have the following lengths: 19 cm, 19 cm, 21 cm and 48 cm.
