At a school fair, a fifth-grade class sold 25 liters of orange juice. The orange juice was sold in cups containing 200 milliliters and 300 milliliters. An equal number of cups containing 200 milliliters and 300 milliliters were sold. How many cups of orange juice did the class sell?
Answer provided by our tutors
Let 'x' represent the number of 200 milliliter cups sold.
The 'x' is also the number of 300 milliliter cups sold.
1 l = 1000 ml
25 l = 25 000 ml
200x + 300x = 25000
500x = 25000 divide both sides by 500
x = 25000/500
x = 50 cups
The class sold 50 cups of 200 milliliters and 50 cups of 300 milliliters.
