Problema Solution
Elena bicycles 4km/h faster than Dennis. In the same time it takes Praedup to bicycle 45 km, Elema can bicycle 57 km. How fast does each bicyclist travel
Answer provided by our tutors
We are going to assume that 'Dennis' and 'Praedup' refer to the same cyclist, otherwise there is simply not enough information.
let 'x' represent Dennis' speed, then 'x+4' represents Elena's speed.
both cycled the same time, therefore we make these ratios:
(x)/(x+4) = (45)/(57)
-----------------------
-----------------------
x = 15
15+4 = 19
Dennis' speed is 15 hm/h, Elema's speed is 19 km/h.
