Problema Solution

I want to buy this square carpet. It has an area of 437 sq ft. The room I want to put it in is 20 ft by 25 ft. Can I fit it in the room? If so, how much space will there be from the edge of the carpet and the walls? If it doesn't fit, how can I change the dimensions so it can cover the whole floor?

Let the length of the side of the carpet is 'a'.

Since the area of the carpet is 437 ft^2 we have:

a^2 = 437

a = 20.9 ft

Since the room has dimensions 20 ft by 25 ft and 20.9 > 29 the carpet will not fit.

The dimensions of the carpet should be changed to 20.9 ft by 20.9 ft.
