After 1 hours: 6 + 2
After 2 hours: 6 + 2*2
........
After x hours: 6 + 2x
After 24 hours we have x = 24 hours and 6 + 2*24 = 6 + 48 = 54 cells.
In 24 hour period you would have 54 cells.
