Problema Solution

Marlowe and Bart are making hamburgers. Marlowe made 4 in the first hour, 8 in the second hour, then 7 in the third hour, 11 in the fourth hour, and10 in the fifth hour. Bart made 5 in the first hour, 6 in the second hour, then 9 in the third hour, 10 in the fourth hour, and13 in the fifth hour. Marlowe and Bart continued making burgers at the same rates until the made a combined total of 58 burgers in the same hour. Out of the 58 burgers, how many were made by just Marlowe and how many were made by just Bart.

On each hour, subtract the number of burgers summed together until the correct hour is reached until all 58 burgers are accounted for:

58-(4+5)-(8+6)-(7+9)-(11+10)

So after 4 hours, 60 burgers were made, 4+8+7+11=30 and 5+6+9+10=30... so each of them made 30 burgers.  It is ambiguous to determine whether they both reached to a total of 29 burgers at the same time.
