Problema Solution
Megan and Cody both own pizza shops and have the same costs. Cody marks up 30% more to the cost of his pizzas than Megan. As a result Cody earns .93 cent more per pizza than Megan. What are their costs for one pizza?
Answer provided by our tutors
Let 'x' represent the cost of one pizza and Megan's markup be 'm' as a decimal.
Sale price − Cost = Cost*Markup
Profit = Cost*Markup
Megan's profit is m*x.
Codys profit is (m + 0.30)x.
(m + 0.30)x = mx + 0.93
mx + 0.30x = mx + 0.93
0.30x = 0.93
x = 0.93/0.30
x = $3.10
The cost for one pizza is $3.10.
