Problema Solution
one of the measures of the angles of a triangle is 25 degrees. If the sum of the other two angles is 155 degrees and the difference between their measures is 5 degrees, what are the measures of the unknown angles?
Answer provided by our tutors
Since the difference in the measures of the two unknown angles is 5 we have:
x = the smaller unknown angle
x + 5 = the larger unknown angle
The sum of the angles in a triangle is 180:
25 + x + (x + 5) = 180

........
x = 75 degrees
75 + 5 = 80 degrees
The measures of the unknown angles are 75 degrees and 80 degrees.
