Problema Solution
Ricky is building a rectangular fence. Two sides of the fence have lengths
28 feet each. Ricky only has 100 feet of fencing. What is the greatest length
of each of the remaining two sides?
Answer provided by our tutors
Since the fence is rectangular we assume that two opposite equal sides are given (28 ft each).
Let 'x' represent the length of each of the other two sides.
Since the perimeter's maximum is 100 ft we have:
2*28 + 2x = 100

........
x = 22 ft
The greatest length of each of the remaining sides is 22 feet.
