The word problem statement is ambiguous, as two lengths are stated as 22 feet long but somehow 'the other side' should be added into it. We can either assume that a 'middle side' is referred to or we assume that 'one of the sides' was 22 feet and 'the other side' was the left over piece from a 60 feet board... the wording of the problem appears to refer only to two pieces.
let 'x' represent the length of one side, then '22+x' represents the other side
22+(22+x)=60
x=16
16+22=38
So one side was 22 feet long, the other side was 38 feet long.
