Problema Solution

If the terminal side of the angle θ is on the line Y=-1/4X and is in quadrant II, find sin θ and cos θ

Answer provided by our tutors

LET  POINT  BE (  1,-1/4)

The given line passes through the origin

HORRIZONTAL DISTANCE =  1

VERTICAL  DISTANCE =  1/4

the hypotenuse = sqrt(1/4^2 +1^2)= SQRT17/2

SIN I = 1/4/SQRT17/2 =  1/2 sqrt 17

COS I = -  2/sqrt 17   as  in SECOND  QUADRANT  COS ANGLE  IS NEGATIVE
