In a typical year a willow tree grows 3.5 feet while chitalpa tree grows 2feet suppose a 6foot willow tree and a 13 foot. Chitalpa tree were planted at the same time

Solution:

y = time, in years from now, taken for the trees to reach the same height

3.5y + 6 = 2y + 13

1.5y = 7

y = 7/1.5 =~ 4.7

So if y>(7/1.5) the willow tree will be taller
