## Problema Solution

Salisbury High School decided to take their students on a field trip to a theme park. A total of 150 people went on the trip. Adults pay \$45.00 for a ticket and students pay \$28.50 for a ticket. How many students and how many adults went on the field trip if they paid a total of \$4770.00?

## Answer provided by our tutors

the number of adult tickets= x

the number of student tickets=y

45x +(28.50)y=4770

x+ y=150

y = 150 - x

substituting for y:

45x + 28.50(150-x) = 4770

45x-28.5x + 4275=4770

16.5x=4770-4275

x=(4770-4275)/16.5

x=30

y=150-x=150-30=120

therefore 30 adults and 120 students attended
