Problema Solution

John has 50 liters of a 10% peroxide solution. How many liters of a 60% peroxide

solution should he add to get a 28% peroxide solution ?

Answer provided by our tutors

50 liters of a 10% solution = .1 * 50 = 5 liters of pure peroxide

we want to add x liters of 60% peroxide to obtain a 28% solution:

(.6x + 5)/(x+50)=0.28

.6x+5=.28x+14

.32x=9

x=28.125

so add 28.125 liters of 60% peroxide
