Two friends live 28 miles apart on a straight road. One can bicycle 3 miles per hour faster than the other. They start at the same time and meet after cycling for 2 hours. What rate did each cycle?

1. total distance is 28
2. first cycle rate of x and 2 time = 2x
3. second cycler rate of 3x and 2 time = 6x
set both to equal full 28
solve for x
x = 3.5 and to get the other rate it is 3x = 10.5
