Problema Solution

Two factory plants are making TV panels. Yesterday, Plant A produced 7000 fewer panels than Plant B did. Two percent of the panels from Plant A and 5 percent of the panels from Plant B were defective. How many panels did Plant B produce, if the two plants together produced 840 defective panels?

Answer provided by our tutors

Let panels of factory A = A

for factory B = B

A = B - 7000

or  B - A = 7000

defective panels

2 % A + 5% B = 840

2A + 5B = 84000

solving

we get B = 14000 Answer

A = 7000

Let panels for factory A = A

For factory B = B

A = B - 7000

or  B - A = 7000

Defective panels

  2 % A + 5 % B = 840

or

  2A  +  5 B = 84000

solving the two equations

  we get

 B = 14000

Panels produced by Factory B = 14000

Panels produced by Factory A = 7000
