Diane cuts a piece of wood measuring 2 7/8 inches into two equal pieces. How long is each piece?
simplify answer in integer, proper fraction or mixed number

THE GIVEN PIECE OF WOOD = 2 7/8 inches.. or 23/8
when it is cut into two equal parts , lenght = 1/2 * 23/8 = 23/16.
Hence the length of each peice is 23/16 which in proper fraction is written as 1 7/16
