Problema Solution

A launched rocket has an altitude in meters, given by the polynomial h+vt-4.9t(2), where H is the height, in meters, from which the launch occurs, at velocity V in meters per second, and t is the number of seconds for which the rocket is airborne. If a rocket is launched from the top of a tower 90 meters high with an initial upward speed of 60 meters per second, What will its height be after 2 seconds?

Answer provided by our tutors

h(t)=h+v*t-4.9*t^2 , Given function of height

h=90 meters, Given

v=60 m/s , Given

h(t) = 90 +60*t-4.9*t^2

Find h when t=2

or

h(2)=90+60*2-4.9*2^2

h(2)=90+120-4.9*4

h(2)=210-19.6= 190.4 meteres, from the top of the tower

or

190.4+90=-280.4 meters from the ground below
