Kristine has $26.40. If there are thrice as many $0.25 coin as $0.05 coin and twice as many $1.00 coin as $0.25 coin and $0.05 coin combined, how many coins of each type does she have?

Solution:

           3x no. of $0.25 coin

           x no. of  $0.05 coin

           8x no. of $1.00 coin

           0.25 * 3x + 0.05*x + 1*8x = 26.4

                         x = 3 = no. of  $0.05 coin

                       3x = 9 = no. of $0.25 coin

                 no. of  $1 coin = 24
