Problema Solution

the sum of two numbers is 135. If twice the difference between them is six more than the larger number, what is the smaller number?

Answer provided by our tutors

X+Y = 135

so, Y = 135-x

2 (x-y) = x+6

or, 2(x-135+x) = x+6

or 4x-270 = x+6

or, 3x = 276

so, x = 92

smaller number = 135-92 = 43
