The bead is a rectangular prism of length 17 mm, width 9 mm, and height 5 mm. A 3 mm wide hole is drilled through the smallest face. Find the volume of the bead.

Volume before being drilled:  V = l*w*h

Volume after being drilled:  (l*w*h) - l*pi*r^2

 

V before:  17*9*5 = 765 mm cubed

V of drilled area:  (17)*pi*(1.5)^2 = 120.17 mm cubed

 

V after:  765 - 120.17 = 644.83 cubic mm
