Problema Solution

you bought a snowboard for 25 percent off. You then received a point-of-sale rebate of $20 before taxes. Sales tax is 7.5 percent. How much did you pay if the snowboard originally cost $200

Answer provided by our tutors

Snowboard Costs: $200

Rebate: $20

25% off : 200 x 0.25 = $50

7.5% Sales Tax

So...

-First subtact the cost of Snowboard with the 25% off coupon.

200 - 50

= $150

-Now Subtract $20 Rebate from the total discounted item.

150 - 20

= $130

Now...

The sales tax, we will use same method we did to get the amount for 25% discount earlier.

130 x 0.075

= 9.75

Now...

Add the 130 + 9.75

and, the total cost for the snowboard is $139.75 after discount, rebate and sales tax.
