Brett can mow a lawn in 5 hours using his push mower. It would take his neighbor 3 hours to do the same job using his riding mower. How long would it take to mow the yard if both work together?

Brett can mow a lawn in 5 hours,
So, we can say that he does 1/5 work in an hour.
His neighbour can mow a lawn in 3 hours,
So, he does 1/3 work in an hour.
If they work together, they can do ( 1/5 + 1/3 ) = ( 3/15 +5/15 ) = 8/15 work in an hour.
So,
the time required to mow the garden will be 1/(8/15) = 15/8
