Problema Solution
if the width of a rectangle is 2cm more than one-half its length and its perimeter is 40 cm, what are the dimensions?
Answer provided by our tutors
First, state the known. They state that the width is 2cm more than 1/2 its length. In addition, the perimeter is 40 cm.
Set up the following equation
2(2+1/2x +x)=40
4+3x=40
3x=36
x=12 (this is the length)
so to get the width, simply divide this by 2 and add 2 which will result in the width being 8 cm.
Hope this helps :D
