Problema Solution

Use transformations of functions

to sketch a graph of

f(x) = -2 log2 (x-3) + 5

Show each of the transformations used

to obtain the graph from the basic

Functions in order on separate graphs

Answer provided by our tutors

f(x) = -2 log2 (x-3) + 5

first draw graph of f(x) = log2 (x)

then f(x) = -2log2 (x)    graph gets inverted ie reflection in x axis

then f(x) = -2 log2 (x) + 5    graph moves up by 5 units

then f(x) = -2 log2 (x-3) + 5  graph moves right by 3 units
