In still water a boat averages 8mph it takes the same amount of time to travel 22 miles downstream with the current as 10 mies upstream against the current whats the rate of the water current?

if v velocity of curren and V velocity of boat
22/(V+v) = 10/(V-v)
22V-22v = 10V+10v
12V = 32v
but here V = 8, so
v = 12/32*8
v = 4mph
