For a chemistry experiment Laura needs 300 ml of a 15% sulphuric acid solution. The Science Department has quantities of 5% acid solution and 20% acid solution. What volume of each solution is required to mix together to get her required concentration?

20%of x +5%of (300-x) = 10% of 300
20x+1500-5x = 3000
15x = 1500
x= 100
hence 20% acid be 100ml and 5%acid be 200ml
