Problema Solution

a circular grassy region with 12 ft diameter has a 2ft by 3ft reflecting pool in its center 1ft concretr border id to be added around the pool. how mamy square feet of concrete will be laid

Answer provided by our tutors

for a circle:

A = PI*r^2 where 'PI' is the constant approximated by 3.14 and 'r' is the radius

total circular area of the region:

A = PI*6^2

for a rectangle:

A = length * width

total rectangular area with the concrete border:

A = (2+1)(3+1) = 3*4 = 12

total rectangular are of the pool:

A = 2*3 = 6

12-6 = 6 square feet of concrete will be laid

the circular area of the grassy region has no affect on this problem since none of the rectangular region exceeds the circle's diameter and the only concrete specified is laid around the pool
