Problema Solution

Montrel has a bag containing 3 yellow plums, 6 red plums, and 8 purple plums. What is the probability that he reaches in without looking and pulls out a yellow plum and eats it, then reaches in again and pulls out a purple plum?

The probability to get out yellow plum is 3/(3+6+8)=3/17=0.176=17.6%. After that, we have 3+6+8-1=16 plums left, and only 6 of them are purple. So probably to get purple after yellow is:

0.176*(6/16)=0.176*0.375=0.066=6.6%
