Problema Solution

the eletric current I, is amperes, in a curcuit varies directly as the voltage V. When 12 volts are applied, the current is 4 amperes. What is the current when 18 volts are applied?

Answer provided by our tutors

directly varying relationship:

I = kV

we solve for 'k' knowing V=12 when I=4

4 = k12

k = 4/12 = 1/3

when 18V is applied:

I = 1/3 * 18V = 6A

a current of 6A when 18V are applied
