Problema Solution
on a farm 1/3 of the trees are guava trees, 1/8 are banana trees, and the rest are mango trees. if there are 17 mango trees in the farm, then how many trees are there in all
Answer provided by our tutors
let 'x' represent the total number of trees, then 'x/3' represents the guava trees, 'x/8' represents the banana tress and we have this equation:
x = x/3 + x/8 + 17
solving for 'x' we have x =31.3
...there must be an error in the problem statement since the answer is not an integer
there would have to 32 trees in all, since there can not be "0.3" of a tree
