Problema Solution
A shot-put can be modeled using the equation y=-0.0241x^2+x+5.5, where x is distance traveled (in feet) and y is the height (also in feet). How long was the throw?
Answer provided by our tutors
the height must be know in order to determine the distance, given this equation... once you know the height, simply replace all instances of 'y' with the height and then solve for x to determine the length of the throw
