Problema Solution

The second angle of a triangular is four times as large as the first. The third angle is 55ยบ more than the sum of the other two angels. Find the measure of the second angle.

Answer provided by our tutors

the sum of the angles in any triangle is 180 degrees

let 'x' represent the first angle, then '4x' represents the second and 'x+4x+55' represents the third angle

180 = x + 4x + (x+4x+55)

solving for 'x' we have x=12.5

4*12.5 = 50

12.5+50+55 = 117.5

the angles are 12.5, 50 and 117.5
