v2 = rate of the tail wind
d = 4800 mi the distance crossed in t1 = 3 hours
t2 = 2 hours
Then we can write down
v1 = d/t1 = 4800/3 = 600 mph
v1 + v2 = 4800/2 (since tailwind is a wind that blows in the direction of travel)
600 + v2 = 2400
v2 = 1800 mph
