In our case
a = -3
b = 2
f(a) = f(-3) = -4*(-3) + 3 = 15
f(b) = f(2) = -4*2 + 3 = -5
(f(b)−f(a))/(b-a) = (-5 - 15)/(2-(-3)) = -20/5 = -4
