x - y = 65
x*t + y*t = 3460 (the total distance is sum of the distances of the first (x*t) and the second plane (y*t))
The solution of the system equations
x - y = 65
x*4 + y*4 = 3460
gives the answer for the problem:
x= 465 mph
y = 400 mph
One plane has a speed of 465 mph while the other 400 mph.
