Problema Solution
At 10:00 the temperature was 70 degrees and two hours later it was 85 degrees. Find the percent of change in the temperature round to the nearest tenth if necessary
Answer provided by our tutors
The percent of change D% is calculated by the formula
D% = 100 * (x2 - x1) / x1 where x1 is the initial value and x2 is the final value.
In our case we have
x1 = 70
x2 = 85
D% = 100 * (85 - 70) / 70
D% = 150/7 = 21.428571 that is
D% = 21.4 to the nearest tenth
The percent of change is 21.4%.
