x = the number of pizza slices sold
y = the number of hamburgers sold
x = y + 40
0.75 * x + 1.25 * y = 292.50
By solving this system of equations
x = 171.25
y = 131.25
Since x and y must be non-negative integer (you can not buy 0.25 of a hamburger or 0.25 of a pizza) then they are not solutions of the problem (they are not integers). The problem has no solutions.
