v = speed of the plan when there is no wind
using the formula distance = time * speed we have
5*(v + x) = 2200
5*(v - x) = 1800
by solving the system of equations
v = 405 mph
x = 45 mph
The rate of the plane in calm air is 405 mph.
The rate of the wind is 45 mph.
