Answer provided by our tutors
Let
x = the price of one box of pencils
y = the price of one box of pens
the price of 3 boxes of pencils + price of 2 boxes of pens = 6
3*x + 2*y = 6
the price of 2 boxes of pencils + price of 4 boxes of pens = 8
2*x + 4*y = 8
By solving this system of equations
3*x + 2*y = 6
2*x + 4*y = 8
x = $1
y = $1.5
The price of one box of pencils is $1.
The price of one box of pens is $1.5.
