Telephone cable is being installed along a 6 and 3/4 mile long street. Workers install 9/16 in the morning and 9/16 in the afternoon. How long will it take them to install all of the cable

we assume "9/16 in the morning" should be interpreted as "9/16 of a mile in the morning", otherwise 9/16+9/16 is greater than 1 and the entire job was finished before the afternoon ended
we use the morning and afternoon lengths to calculate the length finished per day:
9/16 + 9/16 = 18/16 miles per day
we divide the total length by the length per day to find the number of days it will take to finish the job:
(6+3/4)/(18/16) = 6
the job should take 6 days if our assumptions about the problem are correct
