Problema Solution

The U-Drive Rent-a-Truck Company plans to spend 3 million dollars on 200 new trucks. Each van will cost $10,000, each small truck, $15,000 and each large truck 25,000. Past experience shows that they need twice as many vans as small trucks. How many of each vehicle can they buy?

Answer provided by our tutors

let 'x' represent the number of small trucks purchased, then '2x' represents the number of vans purchased and '200-x-2x' represents the number of large trucks purchased

3000000 = 15000x + 10000(2x) + 25000(200-x-2x)

solving for 'x' we have x=50

2*50 = 100

200-50-100 = 50

U-Drive Rent-a-Truck Company can buy 100 vans, 50 small trucks and 50 large trucks
